Meta Quest 2 — Advanced All-In-One Virtual Reality Headset — 128 GB

Welcome to this blog my name is mehroz and today i wanted to do a short update video talking about the oculus quest 2 as it's finally back in stock and now with a brand new model now if you're not aware the oculus quest 2 has been out of stock.

Everywhere for about a month now as facebook recalled all their oculus quest to headsets from sale after receiving reports of skin irritation from a small percentage of people and this is all due to the material that's used on the facial interface prior to this recall oculus were offering those customers who reported skin irritation a free vr cover kit which normally retails at around 30 us dollars and it provides a premium leather style material which is much much more comfortable.

Now i highly recommend their products by the way i've been using them for years on all my vr headsets and now they do this sweet blue virtual reality oasis branded edition kit my affiliate links for both vr cover and the new oculus quest ii model are listed in the description down below if you're interested in buying either of these products but the problem was that this information about how to get a free vr cover kit was widely shared online with people making videos and sharing the details on reddit explaining how people could take advantage of this loophole by claiming skin irritation and then of course receiving a free vr cover kit this was obviously costing facebook a lot of money so they decided to recall all headsets from sale they made a silicon cover to go on top of their material interface which they'll now include in the box with all future oculus quest 2 headsets going forward so if you bought a quest to prior to the 24th of august 2021 and you're experiencing skin irritation you're now eligible to apply for a free silicon cover by logging into your account and applying for it online but no more fancy vr cover kits.

I'm afraid so this week starting from the 24th of august oculus quest 2s are now available to buy again directly from oculus or from other online retailers although sadly they're still not available in germany due to the ongoing battle between facebook and the german government but along with the new free silicon cover included in the box facebook have also increased the storage of the base model of the oculus quest 2 from 64 gigabytes to 128 gigabytes while still providing it for the same great price of 299 us dollars 299 british pounds now this does kind of suck if you recently bought a quest to as you can now get double the storage for the same great price but for people buying the quest 2 for the first time it's a really sweet deal especially as the games are getting bigger and bigger in size now the higher capacity model with 256 gigabytes of storage which is 399 us dollars or 399 british pounds still seems to be unavailable across all regions but i'd imagine it'll be back in stock soon with the new silicon cover included in the box now i have here the new 128 gigabyte model which i bought myself by the way as i was curious to see if there were any other differences in the models i'm also going to be giving this one away so stick around until the end of the video to find out how to enter the giveaway so let's have a little look at the box itself and then have a little look to see what's inside so here i have the new 128 gigabyte model on the bottom with the old 256 gigabyte model on top and as you can see from the front of the box they both look identical and they even have the same games advertised on the back you can see the storage capacity which is shown on the top left of the box and as i said earlier the 128 gigabyte model only went on sale from the 24th of august so if you buy this new model you'll know that you'll be getting the new one with the silicon cover included the headset and controller model numbers are exactly the same as stated on the bottom of the box so i don't expect any changes in design or performance actually the only difference i found on the box was that on top of the box it now shows silicon cover for facial interface listed on the contents list so let's open it up and have a little look inside no surprise here but everything looks exactly the same other than this new little cardboard sleeve which contains the new silicon cover getting it out of the sleeve it feels soft but it's pretty thin so feels a little bit cheap it just wraps around the original material facial interface just like this now i guess this would work if you do experience skin irritation as a last resort but honestly i'd still recommend looking at something like a full vr cover kit as a long-term solution here you can see the new quest 2 on the left compared to my pimped out quest 2 on the right now i've been testing out this new bobo vr m2 head strap for a little while now which i'm totally digging but i'll cover this in more detail in a future accessory video so that's the new quest 2 model it's the same price as the base model before but now with double the storage at 128 gigabytes and all future quest 2s will now include the free silicon cover in the box the quest 2 is still the number one vr headset i would recommend to buy for anyone that wants to get into vr it's a great vr headset for playing content natively from the headset and also for playing steam vr content from a pc using a cable or playing wirelessly using a wi-fi hotspot as long as you don't mind using a facebook account to log into the headset of course now with this slight model refresh i think it's highly unlikely that we're going to see a quest three or a quest pro released this year i think it's much more likely that we'll get an announcement of what's coming next at facebook connect's online event which is happening on the 28th of october with a possible new headset launching sometime next year will it be a beefed up quest 3 for consumers to go toe to toe with playstation's psvr 2 which is also releasing next year or will it be a quest pro aimed at business and enterprise markets or maybe even both with facebook recently launching work rooms and updates allowing you to track your keyboard in vr it does seem that they're edging towards productivity over gaming right now.
